DES MOINES, IA — The state of Iowa revealed its new motto early Monday morning: “But, Nebraska…” The announcement was met with immediate criticism for an obsessive focus on its neighboring state. Governor, Kim Reynolds, responded to the criticism saying, “Yeah, but have you seen Nebraska’s state motto?”
When pressed on the constant comparisons to Nebraska, Reynolds said: “Yeah, but Nebraska is always comparing them– well, okay maybe they don’t, but Nebraska does… um.. well, but Nebraska has… well, well… Nebraska dammit… something.”
Kirk Ferentz gave the new motto a glowing review: “Heh. Whatever keeps them from looking at me!”
